Annual Tourism Development Meeting focused on Samaná as a destination experiences
SAMANÁ , RD November 2022.- The Samaná Tourism Cluster (CTS) and the Samaná Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies (AHETSA) successfully held the VIII Annual Meeting for the Tourism Development of Samaná, which took place this year under the motto “Samaná, a destination of experiences”.
The eighth edition began with the words of the president of the Samaná Tourism Cluster (CTS), Jesús Durán, who stressed that Samaná is, undoubtedly, a destination of experiences and a great contribution to the country’s economy that adjusts to the needs of each visitor addressing knowledge, customs and emotions that makes each visit something unique.
On his side, Juan Bancalari, president of AHETSA, thanked the support of the Ministry of Tourism for being present once again at this meeting. In addition, he highlighted the importance of this type of platform that energizes and positively impacts our country, strengthening employment and production in the areas, in this case, Samaná.
The meeting program included the presentation by Svenja Paulino, director of the Biodiversity and Business program in Central America and the Dominican Republic, of GIZ, with the theme “Samaná towards an ecological and sustainable destination”, as well as with Isabel Piñero, Chief Sustainability Officer Grupo Piñero, who addressed ” Samana; nature, rhythms and unique experiences”, and Sharon Mei, General Manager Puerto De Amber Cove Puerto Plata, with “AMBERCOVE, Maimón Puerto Plata: Experience and keys to good practice”.
Likewise, Rafael Santos Badía, general director of the Professional Technical Training Institute (INFOTEP) added important contributions on “Professional technical training and its impact on the development of tourism in the DR.”
The closing ceremony included the awarding of recognition to the mayor of the year Eduardo Esteban, municipal mayor of Las Terrenas and to the district director of the year Fernando Mercado, director of the municipal district of El Limón and to the premium collaborators for their constant support.
