The Puerto Plata businessmen presented a plaque of recognition to Francisco Javier García, joining the various entities that have highlighted their work for the development of the sector. It was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR).
The delivery was made by César José de los Santos, president of the Playa Dorada Hotel Association; Abraham Selma, tourist entrepreneur; Luis López, former president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES) and Armando Rodríguez.
De los Santos said that García Fernández has done a commendable job for the tourist destination of Puerto Plata through various works that have allowed the repositioning of the Bride of the Atlantic and the development of the province.
He assured that Francisco Javier’s main achievement, in addition to the relaunch of Puerto Plata, was to get the cruise ships to return to that destination, being the port in the Dominican Republic that has received the largest number of cruise passengers in recent years.
Luis López, expressed that he is honored to be able to give this recognition to Minister García for the great work he has done for more than a decade, managing to position the Dominican Republic as a leader in tourism in the Caribbean.
Abraham Selma, stressed that the work carried out by Francisco Javier García has not only been for Puerto Plata, but for the entire country and that it has also deserved the international recommendation of all tour operators.
Francisco Javier García thanked the distinction and indicated that working for Dominican Tourism is his greatest satisfaction because this sector represents one of the main sources of foreign exchange for the economy. In addition to considering Puerto Plata as one of the most complete tourist destinations in the region.
