Adompretur to honor tourism and media personalities at 2024 Epifanio Lantigua Awards
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) will host the 2024 Epifanio Lantigua National Tourism Journalism Awards (PEL) on October 22, recognizing outstanding figures in Dominican tourism and journalism. Among this year’s honorees are journalist Daniel García Archibald, hotel executive Edmundo Aja and the newspaper El Dinero.
Daniel García Archibald, currently Director of Press for the President, will be honored for his extensive media career and his contributions to the development of Dominican tourism. With a focus on aviation and tourism, Archibald has worked for various newspapers and has also made his mark as a political analyst on radio and television programs.
Yenny Polanco Lovera, President of Adompretur, praised Archibald’s dedication and character, noting his long-standing commitment to the future of Dominican tourism. “Daniel is a well-educated, seasoned journalist who has always shown great concern for the country’s tourism sector,” said Polanco Lovera.
Hotel executive Edmundo Aja, president of Hodelpa Hotels, will also be recognized for his leadership in the tourism sector. Originally from Cuba and the U.S., Aja has called the Dominican Republic home since 1986 and has played a key role in its tourism growth, leading companies such as Hodelpa Hotels, Golden Travel and Bávaro Adventure Park.
Polanco Lovera highlighted the respect Aja commands among his employees and peers, describing him as an inspiring leader and a major influence on the country’s tourism and business sectors. “His strategic vision and commitment have left an indelible mark on the sector and the Dominican business community,” she stated.
In addition, El Dinero, led by journalist Jairon Severino, will receive a special media recognition award for its significant contributions to economic journalism, covering key sectors like banking, commerce, tourism and industry. Since its founding in 2015, El Dinero has become a leading voice in economic reporting, offering insightful analysis and recommendations for the Dominican economy.
The 2024 Epifanio Lantigua National Tourism Journalism Awards ceremony will take place at a hotel in Santo Domingo at 6:00 p.m., celebrating important contributions to both tourism and journalism in the Dominican Republic.
