Colombian airline Ultra Air plans to land in the Dominican Republic next year
The Colombian low-cost airline Ultra Air has focused its international expansion on the Dominican Republic, a market that is in great demand by tourists from that South American country.
William Shaw, founder and CEO of Ultra Air, commented that “After a year of domestic operation we could start operating internationally. In this sense, we are evaluating the markets so that, in accordance with our ultra-low-cost strategy, we can choose international routes. Our projections for the start of operations are for the first half of next year and we are looking at possibilities of entering Venezuela, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, the United States, and Mexico, among others.”
With its landing in the Dominican Republic, Ultra Air would be generating a higher level of competition among Colombian airlines that have also seen a great opportunity for growth in the DR, such is the case of Wingo, Avianca, among others, not to mention the offensive that has launched Arajet between both markets.
When speaking about the news of the airline, William Shaw, indicated that “This month we began the operation of new routes from Medellín to San Andrés, Barranquilla and Montería, with which we continue to strengthen our promise to connect the country. Soon, in December, we will inaugurate our Medellín-Cúcuta route and thus we will be left with 17 routes and 10 national destinations in 2022. Likewise, we are making changes so that the customer experience is more friendly from the moment of purchase through our website and strengthening our service at all times. We keep growing”.
