Dominican Republic receives for the first time stop of the World Surf League

Cooperstown Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero is the ambassador and host of Cabarete Pro

CABARETE, Puerto Plata.– Attracted by the excellent conditions for the sport of wind and waves that Cabarete has, for the first time, the Dominican Republic will have a stop of the World Surf League, which takes place from 3 to March 6, 2022, at Playa Encuentro in this municipality.

This tour has the participation of around 100 professional surfers from the countries of the North American region of the WSL Qualifying Series (QS).

Among them are the United States, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama, Brazil, Mexico, Chile and the Dominican Republic.

The sports fair, which is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, is a plus to strengthen this segment in the northern region of the country, as this activity is the perfect setting to publicize local attractions, services and products.

Vladimir Guerrero, former Major League Baseball player and member of the Cooperstown Hall of Fame, is the ambassador and host of the surfers who visit us during the Cabarete Pro event.

Cabarete, cataloged as the city of wind and waves in the Caribbean, is the ideal place to continue developing Surfing in the Dominican Republic at international levels, in addition, the tourist impact that this has.

The sporting event brings together surfers of the stature of Manuel Selman and Gianmarco Oliva, who lead the national athletes and today advanced to the preliminary rounds in search of obtaining the championship in Cabarete.
