Dominican Republic receives more than 1 million tourists from the US in 2019

In the first five months of 2019, the Dominican Republic has received more than one million tourists from the United States, strengthening its leadership as the main traveler market for the Caribbean nation, which has the main economic activity in the tourism sector. .

According to the information obtained by Infotur Dominicano, a total of 1,113,640 tourists arrived from the United States, representing an increase of 114,532 additional tourists over the 999,108 national tourists from the USA who arrived in the country between January and May of 2018 , which means that it is the first time that the country passes the figure of one million tourists of the North American nation in the first five months of the year.

This increase in the arrival of tourists from the USA is due to the promotional work of the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Mitur) participation in conjunction with Hotel Associations, Tourism Cluster, hotel companies and tour operators in various fairs on US soil , in addition to the new offers of flights from several cities and the increase in some weekly frequencies by the main airlines operating between the two countries.

While, from Canada, the Dominican Republic has received the visit of 532,323 tourists, which represents that 98,571 additional Canadian tourists have been received, on the 433,752 that visited the Caribbean nation in 2018, according to figures collected by Infotur Dominicano.
