Entrepreneurs from Santiago come together to turn the North region into a film destination

The main initiatives include the realization of the “ADN Bachata” country-brand film project, and the “First Bachata World Festival”, next November in the province of Puerto Plata.

The Association of Merchants and Industrialists of Santiago (ACIS), the main business entity in the Cibao region, hosts the first initiative of the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourist Companies of the North (Ashonorte), within the framework of the «Two Cities» strategy a Destination”, to unify efforts and promote the northern region.

With the presence of several institutions from Santiago and as special guests the Council for Economic and Social Development of Santo Domingo, it was agreed to host and expand the scope of the strategic alliance agreement between Ashonorte and Adn Films.

This agreement has the objective of turning the demarcation of Puerto Plata into a film destination, the world epicenter of bachata and implementing music festivals, now extending the initiative to other areas of the north, to implement a multi-destination and promote the region in a integral in cinematographic matter and with the local culture.

The business community of the northern zone understands that it is necessary to preserve and promote the elements of the Dominican cultural identity as a tool for promoting the region and the country. with well-structured initiatives such as those proposed by Ashonorte and Adn films. In this sense, a follow-up commission was created with representatives of the participating institutions.

The meeting was headed by Sandy Filpo, president of ACIS; Carlos Rodoli, president Ashonorte; Víctor Minaya, President of ADN Films and Samuel Sena, president of CODESSD.

Ramón Paulino, president of the Santiago Tourism Cluster, and Germán Ulises Polanco, president of the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Santiago, among other businessmen from the sector, also participated.
