MITUR inaugurates Malecón Cabrera and begins construction of the Pedestrian Path
CABRERA , María Trinidad Sánchez, RD November 20, 2022.-The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, together with the Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, inaugurated the new Cabrera boardwalk, in this province, built at a cost of more than 73 million pesos.
In it, the construction of the coastline of the Cabrera boardwalk of about 600 linear meters was contemplated, for the creation of a linear park with a total intervention area of 7,350 square meters, within which the works of about 2,170 square meters will be carried out. of sidewalks and 1,367 linear meters of curbs.
The work includes pedestrian paths, universal access ramps, landscaping, plazas, a children’s play area, as well as a space for group exercises, a gym, and an amphitheater.
The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, stated that this work marks a before and after in the development of tourism in Cabrera.
“With this work we meet an old desire of the residents of this beautiful municipality and mark the definitive takeoff of tourism here in Cabrera,” said Minister Collado, who explained that all these works will be distributed in 4 main squares, duly illuminated.
The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, highlighted the importance of the work, as well as the contribution that tourism makes to the economy.
“We have a good example of this development here today, in Cabrera, one of the municipalities in the northeast that has the most tourist attractions in the entire country, due to its strategic location facing the Atlantic Ocean.”
The rector of the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo, Julio Mariñez, who presides over the union of universities that supervised the bidding process for this work in pursuit of the transparency of the process, also participated in the event.
The Plaza de Pescadores will have a length of 44.23 linear meters, with an area of 376.69 square meters, while the Central Plaza (A-B) will have a photographic viewpoint; with a total area of 2,162 square meters. In which it is located: an amphitheater, social areas, as well as a group exercise area and gym.
Likewise, the Plaza del Cañón has a space of 40.25 square meters, where the pedestrian zone is hierarchical with the creation of a composition of 3 porticos; as well as delimiting the historical vestiges of a canyon in the area. The Plaza del Foro has about 87.67 linear meters; with an area of 1,333.58 square meters. housing social areas and children’s games.
Cabrera is one of the municipalities with the most tourist attractions in the country, strategically placed on the northeast promontory and facing the Atlantic Ocean.
The renovation of this boardwalk will bring a greater economic boom to the municipality, since more visitors will arrive from the areas, as well as from other parts of the country.
Minister Collado and Vice President Peña also started construction work on the Pedestrian Path from Lorenzo Álvarez street to Duarte street, at a cost of more than nine million pesos.
The inauguration of the boardwalk and the palace were held within the framework of the celebration of the Tourism in Every Corner platform, this being the third destination where it takes place.
Turismo en Cada Rincón is the ideal space to promote and strengthen domestic tourism in the Dominican Republic, where all the actors in the sector show their products and services in order to publicize what each place in the country has.
On this occasion, it was held in the central park of Cabrera, María Trinidad Sánchez province, where the different tourism value chains exhibited and sold their products, as well as a waste of art and culture.
