This Turks and Caicos Resort Is Rebranding

The East Bay Resort on the island of South Caicos in Turks and Caicos is set for a major rebranding and redevelopment effort, Caribbean Journal has learned. 

The nearly 100-room resort is closing on Sept. 9 to undertake a “significant” renovation project, one that will result in both a new look and a new name: the Salterra Resort and Spa. 

The new Salterra will be opening its doors in 2024, with plans for a brand affiliation also “forthcoming,” according to a statement. 

The new Salterra will include “a range of high-end services and amenities designed to cater to the needs of discerning travelers,” according to the statement. 

That will include “luxurious rooms and suites,” along with fine-dining restaurants, a spa and new leisure activities. 

“With our beautiful location on one of the best beaches in the Turks and Caicos Islands, we’re looking forward to offering future guests the opportunity to reconnect with nature and themselves in the stunning surroundings of South Caicos.” Melina Forla, General Manager, East Bay Resort.

The project its estimated to take between nine and 12 months; that will necessitate the closure of the popular Blu Bar & Grill. 

“We understand that this closure may cause an inconvenience to some residents, particularly given the beloved status of Blu Bar & Grill. However, the resort’s expansion will positively impact the island’s economy and provide residents with new opportunities for growth and training in the hospitality industry,” Foria said. 

South Caicos is one of the so-called “Sister Islands” of Turks and Caicos, beyond traditional hubs Providenciales and Grand Turk. 

South Caicos is home to one other major resort: the Sailrock South Caicos.
