Tourist destination La Romana maintained a hotel occupancy of 70% in the year
The La Romana Bayahibe Hotel Association (AHRB) reported extraordinary growth in La Romana in 2022, despite exogenous international factors, for which reason Andrés Fernández, president of the entity, said that the destination always maintained a hotel occupancy rate above the 70%
“Without going too much into the international situation, and how it is affecting the world, we want to highlight that the La Romana destination continues to break records, maintaining a hotel occupancy rate always above 70% during 2022,” he stressed.
He indicated that the prospects for the hotel sector for the start of the high season are excellent, and that occupancy is expected to be around 100% at Christmas.
“Destination La Romana has had a year of transformation, in which the plans and agreements created for more than 5 years came to fruition. On August 15, President Luis Abinader started the work on the Bayahibe Tourism Territorial Reorganization Plan, which includes parking lots, an artisan plaza, a police station, road intervention and a new public jetty,” he explained.
Regarding the projects for the next 2023, Fernández stated that “in June 2023 we will celebrate our classic La Romana Golf Tournament, followed by the Bayahibe 10k race in September.”
He added that a work plan will be established in conjunction with Adompretur for the entire year. “Aspects as important as sustainability, universal accessibility and promotion of the destination must be part of our permanent conversation, so that together we can be the best ambassadors of this paradise.”
