Odyssey of the Seas brings more than 4,000 cruise passengers to Puerto Plata

This December 30, the Taino Bay Tourist Port receives the “Odyssey Of The Seas” considered one of the largest cruise ships in the world belonging to the Royal Caribbean International company from Fort Lauderdale, generating great dynamism on the north coast of the country .

Jean Luis Rodríguez, executive director of the Port Authority (Apordom), highlighted the importance and significance of the arrival of these vessels at the port of Taino Bay, inaugurated two weeks ago by President Luis Abinader, and especially for the revitalization of the commercial activity in the tourist pole of Puerto Plata.

“For us as a Port Authority it is of great pride and satisfaction to know that in just 15 days we have received more than ten cruise ships and thousands of visitors who come to boost the economy of our northern region. It is an example of joint work and how strategic alliances between the public and private sectors immediately bear fruit, ”he stressed.

The vessel, which was built in 2020 and went on the market in March 2021, is the newest and most modern ship of the Royal Caribbean cruise company, and will dock this Thursday morning to the country with 2,647 passengers and 1,000 514 crew members.

The recently inaugurated multipurpose terminal has received about 11 vessels with the “Odyssey of the Seas” and the ship No.12 is expected to arrive next Friday, December 31.

It is recalled that the Odyssey of the Seas has a capacity for 4,805 passengers staying in 2,137 cabins and a crew of 1,551 people, the boat is 348 meters long by 41 meters wide and 16 decks.
