Chinese cooperation with the DR highlighted to continue leadership in tourism industry
Santo Domingo.- As a valuable opportunity to continue in the search for innovation and strengthening the country’s tourism leadership, authorities and representatives of the different segments of the industry, highlighted the cooperation that the government of the People’s Republic of China offers in tourism. to Dominican Republic.
The Tourism Management Seminar for the Dominican Republic based on the Chinese experience, concluded with the delivery of certificates of participation to some 52 collaborators of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), among vice ministers, directors and managers of different areas, as well as hoteliers and other representatives of the sector’s value chain, in an event held in virtual mode as a contribution from the Fujian Province Center for International Economic Cooperation.
The training session, held from November 26 to December 16, addressed a varied program of topics based on the success and experiences of tourism management in the Asian giant, with the participation of experts, researchers, economists, officials and academics from universities from Fujian and Minjiang.
Lorna Carrasco, director of Planning and Development of the Executive Committee of Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR) of Mitur, highlighted the importance of holding the seminar, whose contents delivered “will generate new ideas that will allow us innovation to continue in the development of tourism ”.
She highlighted that the highly relevant issues addressed in the virtual event are linked to the national development agenda based on the National Development Strategy and the Government Plan that seek responsible and sustainable growth in the sector.
In his closing speech, Li Sheng, director of the Fujian Center for Foreign Economic Cooperation, defined China and the Dominican Republic as “two bright pearls” that share broad prospects for tourism cooperation and qualify the bilateral relations between the two countries as good.
She specified that the holding of the Tourism Management Seminar in the Caribbean country has been a way of “building a solid base to promote a deeper tourism cooperation between both parties in the future.”
Fabeth Martínez, director of the Santo Domingo Hotel Association thanked the academic team of professors and translators participating in the seminar for their excellent work, the Fujian Center for Foreign Economic Cooperation and the Ministry of Tourism, together with the Chinese Embassy in Dominican Republic for being both articulators of this training.
Among the topics addressed by the seminar in more than two weeks of delivery were “Reform and Opening of China”, “Impact of the Pandemic on Tourism”, “The Fight Against Covid 19 and Economic Development”, “Perspectives of the Tourism Industry of China ”, as well as, Presentation of the development of politics, economy, society and culture of the Asian country, among others.
It, organized by the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development (MEPyD), the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the Vice Ministry of International Cooperation of Mitur, had the participation of Vice Ministers Carlos Peguero; the Technical Vice Minister, Jacqueline Mora; Destination Management, Patricia Mejía; Tourism Promotion and Development, Tammy Reynoso and the Vice Minister of Quality of Tourism Services, Roberto Henríquez.
