Tourism plans to conclude access to Esmeralda beach in Miches in June

The infrastructure construction works for the authorization of public access to the Esmeralda beach, in the municipality of Miches, province of El Seibo, are advanced, so it is expected to come into operation in June of this year 2022.

The work will be a fundamental tool in the preparation of the idyllic coastal environment, in the face of the significant increase in the flow of visitors that is projected in the area, according to Gustavo Román, executive director of the El Seibo-Miches Hotel and Tourism Association (Promiches ), an entity that supports the Infrastructure Execution Committee in Tourist Zones (Ceiztur), which is in charge of executing the project, which began in the last quarter of 2021.

He assured that the planning and organization effort is part of the “Access Development” component, contained in the public-private agreement for the tourist development of Miches, signed between Promiches and the Dominican Government, in March 2021.

“In 2017, the Department of Planning and Projects (DPP) of the Ministry of Tourism established five steps to the beach in the municipality of Miches, as part of an effort to organize the destination and, especially, Playa Esmeralda, given the projection of economic development of the zone and the request of the investors, today grouped in Promiches, that the tourist development of Miches be done in an orderly, environmentally respectful and socially inclusive manner”, he added.

He pointed out that the ground and foundations are being prepared for what will be the parking lot, the post of the Dominican Navy and the Tourist Police (Politur), the bathrooms and showers, and the artisan market, a space for the orderly inclusion of the communities in the economic benefits of tourism.

He stated that from Promiches they are optimistic that this type of intervention is being developed by the current administration of Minister David Collado, also in other tourist destinations, since they have the purpose of improving the offer of services in coastal spaces and regulating the development process. .

“It is a fundamental action if we want to adequately manage the environmental and social risks that underlie the disorder and that, as we have witnessed, have ended up affecting not only the tourist offer of the destinations in terms of competitiveness, but also the quality of life of the people who live in these environments”, quoted the executive.

Meanwhile, Maura Bermúdez, provincial manager of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), said that so far the renovation works that have been carried out are the bases for the detachment, the kitchen, the septic, bathrooms and cistern.

“The walls have already been made and the tubes have been placed while waiting to mount the perimeter fences, the curbs are also waiting to make the base that goes on the streets and roundabout to mount the pavers,” she indicated.

She assured that the work, which will benefit tourism in the municipality of Miches, is going at a good pace, according to Diario Libre.

It is recalled that the project, with an investment of 51 million pesos, includes, in addition to the construction of access to Esmeralda beach, the execution of a detachment, and a parking area.

Also, the construction of five cargo containers to enable a military detachment, with office spaces, dining room, rooms and bathrooms, as well as two additional containers to be used as bathrooms and changing rooms for visitors to the beach.

Similarly, the construction of the access road to the beach to the camp and parking lots, which will have an extension of 430 linear meters, with two lanes divided by a central island culminating in a return.

Access to the beach is intended to be a public utility project, which will be guarded by members of the Dominican Republic Navy, which will provide cleaning and security support, complemented by Politur.
