Minister Collado highlights the work of the tourist press in favor of Dominican Tourism

Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, highlighted the work carried out by the tourist press and its important role in promoting the Dominican Republic.

Collado gave these statements at the ceremony of the Dominican Tourism Press Association (Adompretur) successfully celebrated the XVIII edition of the Epifanio Lantigua National Tourism Journalism Award (PEL) 2022, with Ányelo Mercedes being the Grand Prize winner.

“We firmly believe in the tourist press and its hard work, a constructive press where the landscapes and the essence of the Dominican Republic stand out, Adompretur is an institution in which we firmly believe and we congratulate the effort to carry out these awards,” said the official.

Once again, he reaffirmed his support for this industry that generates jobs and foreign exchange. Also, he congratulated the journalists who with their reports promote the attractions of the country.

Yenny Polaco Lovera, president of Adompretur highlighted that “we reward journalists and communicators who invest their time in highlighting the tourist beauties, the existing needs and why not, the denunciation of irregularities in the sector to make them visible to the authorities, always attached to the ethics and duty of the tourist journalist”.

Polaco Lovera recognized the support of the Ministry of Tourism directed by David Collado; Banco Popular Dominicano and the Hotel Barceló Santo Domingo, which together with other important sponsors have trusted this project that exalts good tourism journalism.

Grand Prize: Anyelo Mercedes, who also received the Written Press award for his reports “Many waters, a natural resource that mutates and never ceases to amaze”, “Belleza Salto del 12, in Gonzalo, makes it look like a mystical place”, published in the newspaper El Dia.
East Region Line: Paula Reyes Dipré, for her report on La Romana broadcast on the Noti Turismo con Paola program.
Northern Region: Daniel Mercado for his report “Sosúa, a place of dreams”, published at www.sosuadigital.com
Television Documentary: Alexander Martínez Bonilla for his work “Charms of San José de Ocoa”, broadcast on Super, channel 33.
Television or YouTube: Cristian Santana for his report “The route of murals in Ciudad Nueva, a new option for tourism in the Dominican Republic”, broadcast on channel 25.
Photography: Jorge González for his sequence of photographs taken in the Colonial City, El Morro and the Sendero de las Cruces, which were published in the newspaper El Nacional.
Art & Culture: Jesús Vásquez for his works “Thermal waters: a virgin industry for Dominican tourism” and “Sarandunga, art, tradition and faith”, published at www.acento.com.do.
Digital press: Daniela Pujols for her report “Cayo Arena, a paradise of crystal clear waters and colorful fish”, published in Diario Libre.
