Puerto Plata, full steam ahead for cruise ships: attracts 40 ships this month

The destination of Puerto Plata remains unstoppable in attracting cruise passengers, managing to boost its economy with the dynamism generated by the segment, since only this April 2023, the main tourist center of the North Coast will receive a total of 40 cruise ships.
Of the 40 ships scheduled to arrive at the tourist destination, 18 will be arriving at the Port of Amber Cove, owned by Carnival Corporation, and 22 at the Port of Taino Bay, owned by ITM Group.
According to data provided by Atahualpa Paulino, Northern regional director of the Ministry of Tourism, the impact of cruise tourism on the economy of the province of Puerto Plata is highlighted.
He said that the Dominican Republic is becoming the main cruise HUB of the entire Caribbean, thanks to the support given by President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado to this important sector.
He said that the province of Puerto Plata is the one that contributes the most in terms of arrivals of ships and cruise passengers to the country.
