Meeting between Puerto Plata tourism representatives and Copa Airlines executives
Convened by Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (AERODOM), this Wednesday a meeting was held between Copa Airlines executives and representatives of the Puerto Plata tourism sector.
Carlos Rodolí, director of the airport and president of the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourist Companies of the North (ASHONORTE), when introducing the meeting, explained that the idea of including a Copa Airlines route that covers not only Panama, but also that serves as a link with all of Central and South America, it is a management that has been working for a few years. “We understand that we are at the right time to materialize it, especially due to the new hotel investments that will be made in the area,” Rodolí pointed out.
The Puerto Plata commission highlighted the characteristics that the destination has, making it attractive to its customers, while committing itself, as a private sector, to supporting the eventual introduction of a new air frequency.
For their part, the airline’s executives were very interested in the different proposals available to the destination, informing that they are evaluating the feasibility of being able to carry out negotiations in the near future.
The meeting was held at the airport terminal facilities, and the airline’s executives participated in it: Ibelca Vásquez Salvador, general manager of the North Caribbean, María Elena Palma, Fleet and Network Planning Coordinator; and Anthony Robinson, Planning Analyst. While the entities summoned were attended by Mileyka Brugal, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Puerto Plata, and of the Free Zone of this province; Birgitt Heinsen, president of the Tourism Cluster of this destination, César José De Los Santos, president of the Playa Dorada Hotel Association; Humberto Pichardo, president of the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of Sosúa and Cabarete (ASHORESOCA) and Kathy Morillo, executive director of ASHONORT
