Dominican Republic among the destinations where Iberostar is launching an ambitious reform plan

Mark Nueschen, Commercial Director for the Americas of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, informed that the chain is currently working on remodeling its hotels in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Jamaica.

“Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has in its DNA to offer the best experience to its customers and therefore presents an ambitious plan of reforms in its hotels in those three destinations where they are investing around $20 million dollars in 2023 to renovate more than 2,600 rooms, as well as renovated common areas such as swimming pools, bars and restaurants, and Star Camp areas,” he detailed.

The renovations to be carried out will follow Iberostar’s sustainability criteria to be waste-free by 2025 and carbon footprint neutral by 2030, among others, according to a press release.

It indicated that a great example of what Iberostar is doing is the recent complete renovation of all 528 rooms and most of the facilities at the Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic, which was completed by the end of 2022.

“The hotel now also includes high-tech in-room amenities such as Chromecast, USB outlets, new reading lamps and a modern key system connected to guests’ wristbands and phones via a QR code,” he added.

He also announced that between August and December 2023, at the Iberostar Punta Cana hotel in the Iberostar Bávaro Complex, all room categories in the main building will be renovated and the “La Caña” beach restaurant will also be remodeled.

He also explained the progress made in the Wave of Change movement where Grupo Iberostar continues to promote dynamics to continue leading a model of responsible tourism through its Agenda 2030.

“By 2023, the chain is focused on reducing its carbon footprint and continuing to make progress in the three areas of action: moving towards a circular economy model, promoting responsible consumption of fish and seafood, and improving the coastal health of all the ecosystems surrounding its facilities,” said the executive after the hotel’s participation in DATE 2023.
