Arajet strengthens air connectivity with 7 destinations and establishes 2 new routes

Santo Domingo. Dominican Republic. – In order to continue strengthening the connectivity of the country for the benefit of Dominican travelers, the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), met the request for new operations to connect the Dominican Republic with 7 South American destinations, this was announced by José Marte Piantini, president of the agency during the eighth regular session.

The public servant said that in order to increase its flights between South American countries, the national air operator Arajet asked the members of the plenary to amend its Certificate of Economic Authorization (CAE) to include the routes: Santo Domingo/Buenos Aires, Argentina; Santo Domingo/Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Santo Domingo/Asuncion, Paraguay; Santo Domingo/Montevideo, Uruguay; Santo Domingo/Chile; Santiago/Bogota, Colombia and Santiago/Medellin, Colombia.

According to information provided by the Statistics Division of the Air Transportation Department, Arajet would be offering to the market approximately 216,050 seats and would transport an average of 121,119 passengers to and from the requested routes.

“Today, under the leadership of President Luis Abinader, the Dominican Republic is experiencing a change in the air sector that is advancing at full speed,” said Marte Piantini upon hearing the operator’s request to the members of the plenary.

The president of the JAC also indicated that none of the routes requested by Arajet are contained in Operating Permits (PO), nor Certificates of Economic Authorization (CAE) of another operator.

Likewise, it was informed of the request for amendment to the Operating Permit (OP) of the foreign operator Rutas Aéreas (Rutaca) to include the routes: Maracaibo/Santo Domingo and Barquisimeto/Santo Domingo.

The projection of this operator is to operate two flights per week, on Mondays and Fridays on the route to Maracaibo; and one flight per week every Saturday on the route to Barquisimeto, using B-737-300 aircraft with capacity for 120 and 145 seats.

New routes

Faced with this panorama of growth and opportunities, the Civil Aviation Board, heard the request for amendment to the Operating Permit of JetBlue Airways Corporation to include the routes: Orlando/Punta Cana and Orlando/Santiago.

The new routes will begin operations on November 4, 2023, which will be operated by Airbus A320-232 aircraft with a capacity of 162 seats, with a frequency of one flight per week, every Saturday.
