Santo Domingo hotel industry to add nearly 1,000 rooms by the end of 2023

The city of Santo Domingo continues to grow in its tourism offer and by the end of the year 2023 will have new lodging properties to attract more tourists.

Yudit Garcia, president of the Santo Domingo Hotel Association (AHSD), informed that 990 rooms will be added to the hotel inventory, expected to start operating by the end of 2023, from the brands: Alof, Marriott, Courtyard Piantini, Hyatt, Iberostar, among others.

He said that the need and interest of hotel chains in having new rooms in the capital is due to the outstanding growth of air traffic at the Las Americas International Airport (AILA) and the expansion of the city’s varied complementary offer.

In addition, the construction of the Santo Domingo Convention Center will begin, which will make it possible to receive congresses and conventions of a larger format and number of participants.

“Together with the Tourism Cluster, we continue to promote multiple initiatives that generate a positive impact on the tourism offer, creating value for all tourism stakeholders and therefore for society. We offer our visitors the opportunity to live unique experiences, beyond the invaluable historical offer of our First City of America,” he added.

He detailed that among the complementary novelties is the Turizoneando program led by the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster with the support of Mitur, which will present new versions, with a cultural and artistic offer, which values local talent, enriches the tourism proposal and promotes the participation of artistic groups, as an integral part of the city’s tourism offer.

In addition, the promotion of the QUALITUR tourism quality program, to continuously improve and guarantee the quality of the City’s tourism services.

The reform, modernization and enhancement of several museums, temples and historical monuments, among others.

The SDQ MICE event, the DR’s specialized MICE fair, will take place in the City of Santo Domingo from October 2 to 4, 2023. “An occasion for local suppliers from all over the country to showcase their offerings to invited buyers, selected for their potential to bring their events and conventions to the country.”
