Air Canada reinforces its commitment to the DR’s star destinations
Air Canada projects an 11% increase in capacity over 2022 and expects to operate 8% more flights than it did before the pandemic in 2019, and to that end the airline has its focus on increasing its operations to Caribbean destinations.
In the case of the Dominican Republic, the airline has increased frequencies this year with respect to last 2022, and otherwise in some poles of the country has maintained the same operations.
In this regard, the Ottawa-Punta Cana route went from 2 to 4 weekly flights. Toronto-Punta Cana has 14 weekly flights (compared to 10 last year). Montreal-Puerto Plata remains with one round-trip flight per week.
Likewise, for the winter season, there will be two flights from Montreal to La Romana.
In other Caribbean destinations, such as Mexico, Air Canada offers from Halifax-Cancun 3 weekly flights compared to 2 in 2022. Montreal-Cancun 14 weekly flights (against 11). Quebec-Cancun 4 weekly flights (against 3).
In addition, Ottawa-Cancun 3 weekly flights (versus 2). Toronto-Cancun 21 weekly flights (versus 11) and from Edmonton-Cancun 3 weekly flights (versus 2).
Also, in a report issued by the airline, it is indicated that to some destinations the increase is due to an increase in capacity by operating with larger aircraft, such as the Toronto-Antigua route, which increased by 60%. Likewise, Toronto-Curaçao with 52%, Toronto-Turks and Caicos with 22%, Toronto-Cayo Coco 56%, Montreal-Turks and Caicos 30%, among others.
