Air connectivity, a key element for economic development and competitiveness

The CEO of Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom), Mónika Infante, indicated that the Dominican industry is convinced that the development of air transport services is key to the growth of airports and is an instrumental aspect for the development and prosperity of the cities and regions they serve.

“Air connectivity can play an important role in fostering local economic development and supporting national long-term economic growth objectives. By facilitating the movement of goods and services, people, ideas, knowledge and investment, air connectivity supports a country’s integration into the global economy,” he added.

For this reason, he emphasized that at Aerodom, each team works to encourage airlines to open new routes and works with local economic actors and travel companies to ensure their success.

“Thanks to dynamic aviation marketing teams, its data-driven methodology and fast-growing network, VINCI Airports is able to work closely with airlines and local tourism stakeholders to open new routes, increase the number of travelers and ensure the sustainable development of its airport,” he added.

Infante recalled that the development of air connectivity is one of the main elements of the value proposition of VINCI Airports (operator of Aerodom), which takes a proactive approach in collaboration with airlines.

“For 23 years, we at Aerodom have had the privilege of contributing to the development of our country by operating, managing and developing six state airports, with the objective of providing our airport terminals with the highest standards of quality, trust and safety,” he said.

He said that forging good relations with airlines, based on trust and credibility, is one of the keys to success.

The board of directors reaffirmed these terms at the opening of the CONNECT New World international forum, in which airlines, airports and tourism authorities will participate and define and discuss the region’s air transportation strategy.

“We are confident that this will allow us to have new routes and frequencies to more destinations,” he said.
