Collado promises to put Santiago on the world tourism map
The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, assured that the entity is working to place Santiago on the world tourism map. To achieve this, essential investments will be made to renovate emblematic areas of the Heart of the City.
Invited to the Capex Entrepreneurial Conversation, Collado informed that Tourism would allocate more than 400 million pesos, starting in the areas surrounding the Monument, to the Heroes of the Restoration. The official said that for this, they will have the support of the private sector.
In his speech, Mr. Collado reviewed the country’s strategy to achieve tourism recovery during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, describing the good practices that earned him recognition from national and international bodies.
Defining the Dominican Republic as ¨A magazine destination¨, Minister David Collado praised the conditions of the Cibao to receive national and international visitors, affirming that there are 781 attractions of high tourist value in the Northern Zone.
These attractions generate sustainability and well-being. The plan is that tourism benefits all sectors, permeates the communities, and we do not live with our backs to the sea”, said Collado Morales.
Strengthening tourism
Before David Collado’s conference, businessman Miguel Lama, president of the Capex board of directors, expressed that the free zone sector, commerce, finance, culture, education, and other areas support tourism activity.
Tourism not only rests on the paradisiacal places that we exhibit as Caribbean Island, but every telephone interaction, in person, on a route, through the care of natural resources, has a direct implication with this productive activity”, said Lama, who also praised the plans of intervention and support to the region announced by the official.
The Capex Business Conservatory was sponsored by: AFP Siembra, Banco Popular Dominicano, Corporación Zona Franca Santiago, Aeropuerto Internacional del Cibao, United Capital Puesto de Bolsa, Revista Mercado Norte, and Swedish Match.
