This Caribbean Island Is Hosting a Rum and Lobster Festival
The tiny Dutch Caribbean island of Saba is set to launch an impossibly appetizing culinary event: a rum and lobster festival.
The first-ever Saba Rum & Lobster Fest will run from Nov. 6-12, with culinary experiences, music, art and a focus on two of the island’s most famous specialties: spiny lobster and rum.
Saba is renowned for its local lobster, one that has drawn crustacean connoisseurs from around the world; it’s also famous for its spiced rums and liqueurs, both of which will be front and center at the gastronomic event.
The fest will include everything from rum tastings to a rum hunt to a Lobster Rum Crawl; there will also be arts and crafts events, street fairs and even a booze cruise.
The island, a short flight from nearby St Maarten, is a vibrant blend of natural beauty, spectacular views, charming mountain villages and a dynamic culture.
