Dominican Republic targets Colombian market at largest tourism fair
Colombia.- Colombia currently holds the position of the fifth-largest source of tourists for the Dominican Republic, presenting substantial opportunities for expansion. This is attributed to the popularity of Dominican vacation hubs in Colombia and the robust air connectivity facilitated by the Arajet airline between the two nations.
In a bid to not only boost the influx of Colombian visitors but also attract travelers from the entire South American region, key figures from the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) and Asonahores will be participating in the Anato Showcase scheduled for February 28 and March 1.
Asonahores, in particular, is making a strategic move by having its principal executive, David Llibre, engage in the prominent Colombian tourism fair. Llibre will board a special Arajet flight departing from Santo Domingo on February 27, with a brief layover in Puerto Plata before reaching its final destination in Bogotá.
The allure of the Dominican Republic, especially Punta Cana, has already captivated the interest of Colombians, Brazilians, Argentines, and more. The current focus is on promoting the offerings of Puerto Plata, a destination that thrives in the cruise sector but is seeking a substantial upswing in its hotel sector.
