Rainieri: Government should set goal of 17 million tourists by 2035

Rainieri said that the Dominican Republic has the potential to promote tourism in international markets. For this reason, he believes that the Dominican government should set a goal of reaching 17 million tourists by 2035, surpassing the recent record of 10 million visitors.

He assured that the tourism industry has been fundamental in the economic growth of different countries that today are tourist destinations and powers.

“Spain was developed by tourism. It has turned it into a world power,” he explained.

The businessman indicated that the arrival of more tourists to the country would increase income for local commerce, increasing profits for the Dominican economy, generating more “construction, income to the State, jobs and productive chaining, he said.

According the executive of the tourist sector also emphasized that the growth and the progress in the field of tourism which Punta Cana has presented, managed to position itself as a reference of the Dominican tourism at the world level.
