Serranía School concludes its 2024 Culinary Week together with students and gastronomy professionals

JARABACOA, La Vega, RD June 2024.-The Serranía Hotel Technical School concluded the “Serranía Culinary Week 2024” event, which brought together students, gastronomic professionals and a large number of the general public in educational and cultural activities focused on gastronomy, entrepreneurship, business and innovation.

The activities had a positive impact on the students and the attending public who actively participated, because one of the most notable moments of the event was the signing of agreements with various related institutions and companies.

During the event, workshops, live master classes with national and international chefs and talks were held, all designed to provide practical and theoretical knowledge in various areas related to gastronomy.

Among the alliance agreements signed, national and international internship agreements, diploma courses, scholarships and donations were included with institutions such as the Universidad Católica Tecnológica del Cibao (UCATECI, signed with the Reverend Sergio de la Cruz.

Another agreement was signed with Rosanny Taveras, from the Dominican Association of Studies in Gastronomy and Hospitality (ADEGH); with Abraham Morales, from the NH Punta Cana Hotel Complex; with Radalme Peña, from the Mission (define these acronyms ILAC).

In addition, during the Culinary Week an agreement was signed with Vanessa Kelly, from Rancho El Establo, another with Chef Alexandra Herrera, Animafest Experience; The same with Gladys Ramírez, from the Parador Corazón de Jesús, and with Lohendy Tiburcio, from TOSTADO, who gave a presentation of his coffee technique.

Among the attendees and notable speakers were the Minister of Education, Ángel Hernández; the Rev. P. Dr. Sergio De la Cruz De los Santos, from the Catholic Technological University of Cibao (UCATECI); Vanessa Álvarez, Vice President of Higher and Complementary Education Initiatives at INDESCO. Alejandra Hernández, Rector of the Open University for Adults (UAPA), and Doña Miriam Acosta also participated.

The event was accompanied by engineer Stanley Ureña, Mayor of the Buena Vista District; Luis Marino López, by Adrián Tropical; Carlos Hernández and Laura Compres, from Chef Javier Cabrera; Patricia Rubio and Richard Encarnación, from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM); Chef Rafael Ramos, from COCREO; and Cissa Kloster, from Hacienda Buenavista.

During Serranía Culinary Week 2024, an exhibition of dishes prepared by the students was held, which showed their culinary talent and creativity.

The event concluded with the words of Yocelin García, Academic Director, who thanked all the participants, speakers and attendees for making possible “this event that reaffirms the school’s commitment to excellence in comprehensive, technical education and the sustainable development of gastronomy and hospitality in the Dominican Republic.”
