Dominican Republic and China seek common progress in areas such as tourism and economy

The Mayor’s Office of Santo Domingo East and authorities of the city of Changsha, Hunan Province, People’s Republic of China, signed a formal brotherhood agreement.

The agreement seeks to promote common progress and shared profit, through exchange and cooperation in the areas of tourism, economy, trade, science and technology, education, public health, culture, development and training of human resources.

The pact is based on the principles set forth in the joint communiqué between the Dominican Republic and China on the “Establishment of Diplomatic Relations”.

Officials and relevant departments of both cities will actively conduct visits and exchanges, maintaining communication on friendly exchanges, mutually beneficial cooperation and matters of common interest.

The said twinning agreement will come into effect from June 17 of this year and will be valid for five years, with automatic renewal unless one of the parties decides to terminate it with six months’ notice.
