Dominican Republic promotes its MICE destinations

The Dominican Republic is a country that breaks records of holiday tourism, even so, in the MICE segment it must work to boost its destinations and increase the number of events that take place every year. With that objective, the Caribbean country participated last week in LAMITE, an event that took place in Guanacaste, Costa Rica and where they have been able to make contact with the main buyers in Latin America. To know the details, we were able to interview Amelia Molina, Director of MICE. The official commented: “The MICE segment continues to grow in the Dominican Republic, our country is a regional leader in vacation tourism, but we still have a lot to do in MICE, we are working to position ourselves strongly in this niche”.
“Punta Cana and Santo Domingo are the 2 cities that receive the most conventions, but the ideal is to be able to promote each of the destinations in our country”.
“Our main issuing market is USA, although we are working to grow in other regions, this event will undoubtedly help us to strengthen the operations of Latin America”.
