La Romana registers greater increase in arrival of foreigners of Dominican Republic
The Caribbean destination airport registered the largest cumulative increase in the arrival of tourists with the arrival of 78,803 additional travelers, which in relative terms represented an increase of 111.8%.
The Punta Cana International Airport received 65.7% of its non-resident tourists to the country during the period January – October 2019, that is, a total of 2,955,965 passengers, followed in order of importance by Las Américas (17.4%) and Puerto Plata (7.2%), while the terminals of La Romana, Cibao, La Isabela and El Catey de Samaná, together received the remaining 9.7% of the total number of non-resident foreign visitors, according to the monthly report of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD)
Meanwhile, the BCRD highlights that the La Romana International Airport registered the largest cumulative increase in tourist arrivals, with the arrival of 78,803 additional travelers, which in relative terms represented an increase of 111.8%, followed by the Las Americas terminal ( 46,215), Cibao (10,418) and La Isabela with 5,604 more people compared to the January-October 2018 period.
The analysis of the profile of tourists who visited the country during the period January-October 2019 shows that 94.7% of tourists reported that the main reason for their visit to the country was recreation. Likewise, 93.1% reported that they used hotel establishments as their accommodation option.
Regarding the age of the visitors, 59.5% ranges from the range of 21 to 49 years, while, in relation to gender, 54.3% belongs to the female and 45.7% to the male.
