President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, inaugurated several projects here, including the municipality’s seawall, with an investment exceeding 553 million pesos.

The project to reconstruct the Santa Bárbara de Samaná seawall and other complementary works consists of a set of hydraulic solutions aimed at mitigating the flooding that occurs in this area during periods of heavy rains.

It also includes the comprehensive restoration of the seawall’s urban and recreational space.

This intervention includes work on the entire 1.3 kilometers of the Samaná municipality’s waterfront, as well as the sanitation of the creeks that flow into the seawall.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Santa Bárbara seawall, President Luis Abinader highlighted the works and investments the government has made in the province of Samaná.

“Samaná’s future is bright,” the president stated, after recommending continued attention to the projects the government has implemented, such as the reconstruction of the Santa Bárbara boardwalk in the municipality of Samaná.

Minister Collado highlighted the impact of the projects on the growth of tourism in the municipality of Santa Bárbara and the rest of Samaná province.

“Today we are here, fulfilling our commitment, thanks to the strong support of President Luis Abinader Corona. From now on, we are marking a before and after in the development of tourism in Samaná,” Collado said.

In addition to the boardwalk, President Abinader and Minister Collado inaugurated the remodeling of the Santa Bárbara parish in Samaná, whose reconstruction cost more than 24 million pesos.

Santa Barbara Boardwalk, Samaná

This project includes the improvement of the stormwater drainage system of the Santa Barbara Samaná Boardwalk for RD$200,035,193, the improvement of the western section of the boardwalk for RD$200,473,714, as well as the eastern section for RD$109,391,492, and the rehabilitation of public lighting for RD$43,216,324, for a total of RD$553,116,725.

The construction of the urban and maritime promenade includes 1,115m of bicycle paths, polished concrete benches and chairs, concrete paving with polypropylene fibers and universally accessible ramps, renovation of the existing central island and viewing platforms, as well as the construction of sandbanks for children’s enjoyment and vertical and horizontal signage.

The project also includes a service area with sales modules measuring 10 square meters each, equipped with a stove, sink, freezer, oven, griddle, gas tank, tables, chairs, and umbrellas.

In addition, there are two restroom modules measuring 16.80 square meters each, a Politur office, and two warehouses. The construction of a Bay of Lights as a recreational area, among other facilities, is also included.

Santa Bárbara Parish of Samaná, Samaná Province

The reconstruction of this church cost RD$24,042,045. It consisted of the renovation of the physical infrastructure and exterior areas of the iconic Santa Bárbara Parish, covering an area of ​​2,240 square meters, to enhance the value of this important structure and, in turn, contribute to Religious Tourism in the province.

This includes mahogany cladding for the presbytery, stained-glass windows in the main entrance doors depicting the 12 apostles, the creation of religious images, the creation of a new space for the sacristy, and air conditioning in the sacristy and chapel.
