Dominican hotels continue to offer services to stranded tourists
Despite the quarantine and health crisis caused by Covid-19, there are properties that still house tourists who have not been able to return to their country of origin
The former president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES), Joel Santos, reported that in order to respond to tourists who still remain in the country, due to the restrictions on their flights due to the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID -19), which affects the country and the rest of the world, a total of 13 city hotels throughout the tourist sector continue to operate on a regular basis.
Among the aforementioned accommodation destinations that are open in Santo Domingo, the following stand out: Aparta Hotel Drake, W&P (BQ Santo Domingo), El Embajador a Royal Hideaway Hotel, Quality Hotel Real and Weston Suites Hotel & Casino.
While, in the northern region, they continue to provide service, in Constanza, the Hotel Real and the Hotel Pegasus. Likewise, the complexes continue to operate: Areca Apart Hotel, Casa Maravilla Ecolodge, Eawinds At Punta Goleta and Velero Beach Resort, informed the Vice Minister of Tourism for the North Region, Julio Almonte.
While, according to Ramón Paulino, president of the Santiago Hotel Association, “all the hotels in the city are closed by a joint arrangement of the tourist entity with the purpose of ensuring the health of its employees,” he assured.
These same provisions were accepted by the president of the Association of Hotels and Projects of the East (ASOLOESTE), Ernesto Veloz.
It should be noted that the hotels that remain with their doors open do so with a minimum number of their workers, as a way of safeguarding the health and well-being of their staff. These hotels will operate until their guests can return to their countries of residence.
According to the statements offered by Joel Santos, these measures were taken in compliance with the provisions established by the Ministry of Health, to prevent the spread of the named virus.
In another order, the Hyatt hotel chain, given the situation in the travel and tourism sector that is experienced in the world by COVID-19, has implemented some additional actions to care for its members and guests who have chosen to visit its different lodging complexes in the world.
Initially, Hyatt has eliminated modification and cancellation charges until June 30, 2020. “We are adjusting our policies to allow flexibility around travel at this time, extending the cancellation charge elimination period to 30 June 2020 ”, indicated the hotelier.
This measure is applied in the Dominican Republic complexes: Playa Hotels & Resorts, with the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana and Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana hotels. In the same order, the hotel chain notifies that guests who have booked at a Hyatt Residence property Club, through other non-Hyatt means, should contact Hyatt Residence Club. He also informed that reservations can be modified or canceled up to 24 hours before the scheduled arrival time on hyatt.com or through the World of Hyatt application.
