More than 93 thousand tourists who were in the country at the time of the closing of the ports and airports have been repatriated in an operation coordinated by the civil aviation authorities, airports, airlines and the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES).
“We appreciate the collaboration of the hotels, the Civil Aeronautics Board (JAC), the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC), and the international airports of Punta Cana, Gregorio Luperón (Puerto Plata), Juan Bosch (Samaná), Joaquín Balaguer (Santo Domingo), La Romana and Santo Domingo (AILA); also from airlines ”, says information provided by ASONAHORES.
More than 70 thousand tourists left the Punta Cana airport until yesterday, through AILA 12,431, through Puerto Plata 6,922, through Joaquín Balaguer 214, through Juan Bosch 1,209 and 3,000 passengers through La Romana.
Tourists from several South American countries who were unable to take their return flights after being suspended because their governments closed the airports still remain at airports. “ASONAHORES hopes that the efforts to repatriate them by the embassies of these countries will have positive results,” the note explains.
The organization thanked those responsible for airports for the understanding and support they have shown to these stranded visitors at their facilities.
