Dominican Republic will apply rigorous protocol that guarantees the health of visitors

The Ministry of Tourism and ASONAHORES are working intensively on the sanitation protocol that will be applied in the country throughout the industry immediately after operations are reactivated, temporarily suspended by the Covid-19 pandemic

The Ministry of Tourism (MITUR) and the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES) are working intensively on the health protocol to be applied in the country in the industry, immediately the operations are reactivated, temporarily suspended by Covid-19.

This was expressed by the Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García, who has been leading the meetings where the guidelines for the revival of Tourism are analyzed, which provides more than 350 thousand direct jobs and is the main generator of foreign currency in the country.

He declared that all the general and specific cleaning and disinfection guidelines for tourist service providers in the aforementioned sanitary situation have already been detailed, with basic measures to follow, in order to maximize sanitation processes and avoid contagions.

“These protocols must be implemented by all tourism service providers that operate in the national territory,” said Minister García at the end of one of the meetings, where he participated with the president of ASONAHORES, Paola Rainieri, and other important executives of the entity that groups tourism service providers.

In addition to the private sector and MITUR, the Ministry of Public Health, the Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC), the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), the Association of Airport Administrators of the Dominican Republic, Specialized in Airport Security and Civil Aviation (CESAC).

The official indicated that the new measures will be applied as soon as tourists begin to arrive in the country, either by air or by sea.

“That rigorous protocol that we will apply in ports, airports, hotels or restaurants will guarantee the health and well-being of those who will visit us immediately if our tourist activities are reactivated,” García emphasized.

During the work meetings, officials and businessmen make the most pertinent recommendations, which are approved by consensus.

The approved measures will be applied at airports, ports, hotels, restaurants, as well as on excursions or any other activity related to the tourism industry.

García trusted that once the activities of the sector have been restored, the country will regain its leadership in the tourism industry in the Caribbean region.

“I am convinced that all this will happen immediately, we will once again be the favorite destination for tourists who prefer to visit the region,” he stressed.

Francisco Javier explained that an intense national and international promotional campaign will be staged that will guarantee that tourists again choose Quisqueya la Bella as their favorite destination.

“When all this happens, very soon, and the activities are restarted, I am sure that we will record the growth in tourism that we maintained, and the Dominican Republic will resume its leadership, because it is a country that has it all,” said Minister García. , notably optimistic.
