Meliá Hotels chain restarts operations in the D.R.

“The hotels that will be operating are The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real, Meliá Caribe Beach (For Everyone) and Meliá Punta Cana Beach (Adults Only) with offers of up to 30% discount on rates and a free child”

PUNTA CANA , DR, October 2020.- After having recessed its operations due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on a global level, the Meliá Hotels International chain announces the reopening of several of its hotels in the Dominican Republic, hand in hand of a series of procedures and protocols to safeguard the health of its users.

As explained by its executives during the reopening ceremony, prior to the restart of the activities of the hotels The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real, Meliá Caribe Beach (For Everyone) and Meliá Punta Cana Beach (Adults Only), the chain has been carrying out a experience transformation program that includes the “Stay Safe with Meliá” program, audited by Bureau Veritas, a Business Group specialized in inspection and certification.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have remained firm in our decision that health was and will always be our first premise when deciding to open our doors. This day marks the beginning of applying a different perspective to our industry and gives us the hope of resuming a certain normality ”, indicated Mr. Santiago Rivera, Area Managing Director of the Meliá chain in the Dominican Republic. “We will also maintain our commitment to society, focusing on having a positive impact for all stakeholders with whom the industry interacts,” he added.

“MHI is part of the main hotel chains supporting the Incentive Plan for Internal Tourism promoted by the Ministry of Tourism and the Presidency of the Dominican Republic, offering important discounts and benefits so that our customers at the local level enjoy a well-deserved quality time in family. Due to reopening, up to 30% discount on rates, 1 child and free cancellation will be offered. Our commitment to the country is total, and if possible at this time, our implication for the reactivation of tourism will be even greater ”, he highlighted.

Smart measures.- The transformation strategy of the operation is based on the following additional cleaning and hygiene measures, which include a new signage system to inform guests of the use and need to maintain new personal space; dispensers of disinfectant solutions throughout the hotel and guest prevention kits (masks, sanitizing gel); protection screens at reception; capacity reduction in restaurants, swimming pools, meeting rooms, etc. to guarantee distancing; sealing of areas and items after cleaning rooms and areas, sealing of all frequently used items such as glasses, remote controls, etc. as well as the entrance to the room itself; elimination of stationery from rooms and replacement with digital directories.

It should be noted that the structure and architecture of Meliá hotels make it possible to implement these new security and social distancing protocols in an efficient way. “We have ample recreational spaces, gardens, numerous restaurant options and leisure environments that allow guests to enjoy the facilities without compromising their enjoyment. With the more than 1,000,000 m2 that we have in our complex, social distancing is guaranteed. Our great challenge is to open our hotels in the DR with the MHI seal and guarantee, ”Rivera said.

“MHI reinvents itself in the Dominican Republic. Our objective is to promote synergies in our business in Punta Cana, seeking greater transversality and agility, as well as simplification in some processes and achieving greater efficiency in our operations. Throughout this period, we will make some necessary readjustments in order to improve the customer experience, which is the main objective of our business. ”Santiago Rivera commented on this new stage that is about to begin.
