Dominican Republic reports increase in flights and hotel reservations
The statements of Minister Collado occurred during the presentation of the Training Plan in Support of the Tourism sector in control and prevention measures for Covid 19, carried out by INFOTEP and ASONAHORES.
The main authorities of the training entity attended, headed by its General Director, Rafael Santos Badía and the president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Paola Rainieri.
The aforementioned INFOTEP Training Plan for the tourism sector against Covid 19 seeks to train a population of between 120,000 and 150,000 employees, managers and personnel of the sector of ASONAHORES member companies.
It will consist of 5 modules with a total duration of 40 hours, including the Post-Covid 19 Special Protocol Module.
Collado reiterated that “we are going to open tourism, but in a responsible way; We are going to open tourism because we need the 500 thousand jobs that are from Dominicans, because it needs the economy to be more dynamic because tourism represents 15% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and because the relaunch and strengthening of the economy depends on this. ”.
The official said that he expects the occupation of more than 10,000 rooms for the month of October as part of the recently initiated Incentive Plan for Internal Tourism of the MITUR in alliance with the public private bank and the different actors of the country’s tourism sector.
“Our goal was to fill 10 thousand rooms per month and they will be exceeded in the first month in this Internal Tourism Program. All the hotels and rooms on the weekend were full and for the next weekend they will be in a resounding increase, “said the Minister of Tourism.
He specified that the Internal Tourism Plan is duly coordinated with all the institutions that make up the Tourism Cabinet, including the Ministry of Defense, working “shoulder to shoulder” in the development of a rigorous health protocol that begins from the airports to the stay in the hotels.
He recalled that this weekend more than 150 supervisors will be working in all the hotels in the country because the protocols established by the President of the Republic are met”.
