Reactivation of construction and Dominican tourism in a favorable situation
SANTO DOMINGO.-The reactivation and growth of the construction sector, affected by the Covid-19 crisis, is closely linked to the reactivation of tourism, which is a generator of wealth, so construction will be reactivated next year, and for the 2022 “we will have an almost normal year”.
The vision is that of Álvaro Peña, CEO of Constructora Codelpa and Hugo Pérez Ovalles, CEO of Constructora Therrestra, who participated in the panel “Perspective of the Reactivation of Construction in the Tourism Sector”, moderated by Enrique de Marchena at the Fair Virtual of ASONAHORES.
Both view the reactivation of constructions with optimism because they understand “the business is being profitable, and the growth of construction is one hundred percent linked to the tourism sector, so in mid-2021, which will be a year of transition, it will be reactivated construction, and by 2022 we will have an almost normal year ”, the businessmen pointed out.

They considered that the Covid-19 has been a hard blow for the construction sector, because it stopped the growth of the construction of rooms, and by September of this year “construction had decreased by 15 percent and tourism by 42 percent, and reduced the sector’s contribution to GDP ”.
