Bavaro, La Altagracia. – President Luis Abinader, together with the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, exhausted a busy work schedule in this province, where they met with the main players in the sector and a series of initiatives were adopted to benefit the entire value chain of the different tourist poles of the country.
The tour began on Friday with a meeting with representatives of the different hotel groups in the Eastern region, where more than 60 percent of tourists visiting the Dominican Republic arrive.
The President of the Nation together with the Minister of Tourism listened and looked for short-term solutions to each of the needs and emergencies raised in the Work Meeting, held in the spacious Princess Room of the Grand Bávaro Princess hotel.
Representatives of tourism clusters, tour operators, tour carriers, project developers, hikers, municipal authorities, business owners, and other stakeholders expressed their concerns to President Abinader and the officials who accompanied him.
In that first meeting, a compromise agreement was signed with hotel and airport owners, in which they commit to the reinforcement of health protocols during the Christmas season.
Collado said that, with pride and determination, the Dominican Republic came to the forefront in the application of the protocols in the sector to face Covid 19, and that today Quisqueya is the best prepared country for the winter in the region.
They continued on Saturday morning with the Country Brand Panel, also headed by President Abinader, where the elements and strategies to position the Dominican Republic abroad were analyzed, an event held at La Cana Golf Beach Club.
The governor, also together with Minister Collado, made a brief visit to the Lopesan Group hotel, where they spoke briefly with guests of the establishment and got to know some areas of the establishment’s beach as part of the intense schedule of activities carried out by the Tourist Office in Cap Cana and Bavaro.
The agenda concluded with a meeting with the value chain and the presentation of the Puerto Plata Development Plan.
