Commercial aircraft deliveries demonstrate Airbus resilience in 2020
Airbus SE (ticker: AIR) delivered 566 commercial aircraft to 87 customers in 2020, in accordance with the production adaptation plan established in April 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to overcome restrictions on international travel, Airbus teams have developed an innovative electronic delivery solution that was applied to more than 25% of deliveries in 2020. This device has enabled our customers to receive their aircraft while minimizing the need for their teams to travel.
“Working hand-in-hand with our customers has enabled us to get through this difficult year. Airbus teams, along with customers and suppliers, faced adversity to achieve these results. We also thank our partners and governments for their strong support. to the industry, “said Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus. “Based on our 2020 deliveries, we are cautiously optimistic for 2021, although many challenges and uncertainties remain in the short term.”
In 2020, Airbus recorded a total of 383 new orders, 268 net orders, showing continued support from customers in all market segments. The A220 received 64 new orders, confirming its position as the leader in its category. The A320 Family achieved 296 new orders, including 37 A321XLRs. In the wide-body segment, Airbus secured 23 new orders, including two A330s and 21 A350s. After 115 cancellations at the end of 2020, Airbus’ order book stood at 7,184 aircraft.
Airbus will publish its financial results for the year 2020 on February 18, 2021.
