Carnival Cruise Line offers update on a possible reboot plan from the US.

Carnival Cruise Line notified its guests and travel advisory partners today of additional trip cancellations as it works on plans for a possible July restart in the US on select ships.

Carnival expects to begin operating departures on three ships from Florida and Texas, including Carnival Vista and Carnival Breeze from Galveston, and Carnival Horizon from Miami. Additionally, if Carnival can find a solution to allow cruise ships to visit Alaska, Carnival Miracle will take over some of Carnival Freedom’s departures from Seattle. Since there is still some uncertainty in our ability to operate these cruises, guests who have booked those trips and wish to make alternative summer vacation plans can cancel without penalty before May 31, 2021 and receive a full refund.

The company will cancel trips on all other ships until July 30, 2021. Guests whose cruises are canceled are eligible for a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) and Onboard Credit (OBC) or a full refund.

“We continue to have constructive discussions with the CDC, but we still have many unanswered questions. We are working diligently to resume shipping in the US and comply with CDC guidelines,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “We sincerely appreciate the continued patience and understanding of our guests and travel advisory partners and will share additional information as soon as we can.”

Separately, late last week, Carnival notified its guests that Carnival Splendor’s hiatus outside of Sydney was extended for another month, as it canceled trips from August 19 to September 17, 2021.
