Abinader discusses with Chilean president-elect interest in increasing tourism
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, reported that he had a conversation with Gabriel Boric, Chilean president-elect, about tourism and cooperation in various areas between the two countries.
“We talked about the interest in increasing tourism, cooperation in various academic areas,” Abinader wrote in his account on the social network Twitter.
The president said that he expressed to the politician that he wants to strengthen the brotherhood between both nations and, in addition, reiterated “once again his congratulations for the victory obtained in the presidential elections in Chile last Sunday, December 19, 2021.” .
“We talked about the interest of strengthening brotherhood between our peoples,” Abinader tweeted.
It is recalled that Boric, a 35-year-old former student leader, strengthened his political leadership during the social protests that the country faced in 2019, prevailing with 55.8% of the votes and by more than 10 points of difference to the far-right José Antonio Kast , who immediately recognized defeat, was elected as president.
Boric, who defines himself as an ecologist, feminist and regionalist and wants to expand the role of the State towards a welfare model similar to that of Europe.
At just 36 years of age, he became the youngest president in Chilean history.
