Adompretur recognized for contributions to tourism at the National Tourism Awards

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) was honored at the third edition of the National Tourism Awards for its 47 years of promoting the Dominican Republic’s tourism sector. The recognition highlights the association’s ongoing efforts to promote the country’s attractions through media coverage and support for tourism growth.

Yenny Polanco Lovera, president of Adompretur, accepted the award and reflected on the organization’s founding by visionary journalist Luis Augusto Caminero, with the support of Rita Cabrer and Ellis Pérez. She emphasized that the honor coincides with World Tourism Day and the upcoming Epifanio Lantigua National Tourism Journalism Award, an event organized by Adompretur to celebrate excellence in tourism journalism. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 22.

The recognition was presented at an event held at the Catalonia Santo Domingo Hotel. Bernarda de Jesús Franco, secretary of the Civil Aviation Board, and Ibelca Mencía, communications manager for Cap Cana Ciudad Destino, presented the award. Past Adompretur presidents Manuel Quiterio Cedeño, Dania Goris, Osvaldo Soriano, Luis José Chávez and Elsa Peña Nadal, along with current president Polanco Lovera, were on hand to accept the distinction.

Luis Severino, president of the National Tourism Awards, expressed pride in the event’s success, noting its ongoing mission to honor the individuals and organizations who improve the quality of tourism services in the Dominican Republic.

The event was attended by several Adompretur executives, including communications director Carmen Bretón, institutional relations director José Alberto Selmo, training director Amelia Reyes, culture and tourism director José Ramón Torres, ethics committee member Barnadiz González, and Adompretur Joven president Héctor Méndez, among others.

Additional recognitions

These awards reflect the diversity and strength of the Dominican Republic’s tourism sector, showcasing the individuals and institutions driving its success. These are the key figures and organizations recognized: Lopesan Costa Bávaro was named “Hotel of the Year,” while Asoleste president Manuel Ernesto Veloz Valdez received recognition for his leadership. Other honorees included Ventura Serra as “Manager of the Year,” William Ramos as “Influencer of the Year,” and Bávaro Adventure Park in the “Alternative Tourism” category.

The awards also highlighted the work of Fundación Vida Azul for “Social Welfare,” Geniall Business as “Tourism Wholesaler of the Year,” and Expo Turismo Santiago as the “Tourism Event of the Year.” Millennium Resort & Spa was named “Boutique Hotel of the Year,” and El Faro newspaper was recognized as “Media Outlet of the Year” for its contribution to tourism innovation and growth.
