Asian hotel group to open four hotels and condotels in the Dominican Republic; opens Punta Cana office

The Southeast Asian hotel group Archipelago International will open four properties in the Dominican Republic, including hotels and condotels, adding more than 600 hotel rooms to the Dominican Republic’s tourism offer.

The information was offered at the opening of its new corporate office in the country, located in The Village, Punta Cana.

“In the next twelve months we will open four hotels and condotels in the Dominican Republic. These are Reserva Real by Harper, Punta Cana (187 rooms), Aston Rubí City Suites, Santo Domingo (179 rooms), Grand Aston Punta Cana Beach Resort & Spa (170 rooms) and Aston Bocettos City Suites, Santo Domingo (126 rooms),” said José Luis Leonardo, vice president of The Americas for the hotel group.

He added that “to these openings will be added a hotel in Havana, Cuba, the Aston Panorama Hotel (320 rooms), and two in Mexico, the Aston Puebla Hotel, Puebla (105 rooms) and IIk Tulum by Aston, Tulum (104 rooms)”.

Leonardo said that the Grand Aston Larimar City Golf Hotel & Residences, Punta Cana (228 rooms), Grand Aston Cáicu Coral Golf Hotel & Residences, Punta Cana (669 rooms), Riviera Bay by Aston, Cana Bay (110 rooms), Harbour Bay by Aston, Cap Cana (186 rooms) will also soon be included in its catalog.

Also Juanillo Hills by Aston, Cap Cana (60 rooms), Aston Piantini Boutique Hotel, Santo Domingo (144 rooms), Aston Towers Larimar City, Punta Cana (432 rooms), Paradise Tower by Harper, Punta Cana (144 rooms), Harper Paradise Punta Cana (135 rooms), Aston Arts Hotel & Residences, Punta Cana (368 rooms), and The Alana Experience Punta Cana (530 rooms).

Additionally, new projects in Mexico will include Grand Aston Tulum (153 rooms), ASTON Naomi Boutique Hotel & Residences, Playa Del Carmen (246 rooms), Zonna Beach Resort & Residences, Playa Del Carmen (257 rooms), The Alana Hotel & Residences, Playa Del Carmen (376 rooms), Itch by ASTON, Tulum and Bao Riviera Maya by ASTON.

“We are providing owners, developers and investors with proven operational and alternative branding solutions for their hotel assets with fee structures that are well below other global brands. We have developed successful technology solutions, made by hoteliers for hoteliers,” he said.

He emphasized that the “recognized Asian service standards of the highest level, cutting-edge technology solutions and flexibility as an independent company, gives us a competitive advantage in the marketplace. In addition, we have changed the paradigm regarding the owner-operator relationship by creating new partnership operating models that reward the owner more equitably than the traditional double-digit fee structures of the past.”

Gerard Byrne, CEO of Archipelago International, said that from the group’s formation 27 years ago in Jakarta, Indonesia, to its current management, it adds more than 270 hotels in operation (45,000 rooms) and a development portfolio of more than 80 hotels (16,000 rooms) across 5 continents and 15 countries, including the Dominican Republic.

Praises DR government

“The government of the Dominican Republic has demonstrated a commendable dedication to fostering a favorable economic and business climate that encourages growth in the travel and tourism sector. This commitment greatly influenced our decision to establish our second regional corporate office in Punta Cana. In addition, to enhance our operational capabilities, we are planning new corporate offices in Santo Domingo and Playa Del Carmen, Mexico,” Byrne emphasized.
