Asonahores: innovation will promote sustainable opening of tourism

The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores) advocated a commitment to innovation and technological transformation as an ideal strategy for the sustainability and recovery of the country’s chimney-free industry.

For this reason, Rafael Blanco Tejera, president of Asonahores, said that it is vital to continue working hand in hand with the public and private sectors, to jointly carry out innovative strategies that guarantee a sustainable relaunch of Dominican tourism.

“That is why it is so important to focus our efforts on achieving an opening of the international tourism sector that is sustainable over time, so that the tourism sector can once again generate the important contributions it makes in our country and the vital job recovery,” he said.

The importance of adopting promotional strategies within the Central American bloc to support regional recovery was also emphasized.

His statements were offered within the framework of the “Innovation and Tourism Talk” held at the Meliá hotel in Punta Cana, where Juan Miguel Moreno, CEO of Moreturismo International, explained about the optimization of the processes that must be implemented in the tourism industry with innovations robotics that complement and improve the services provided to visitors in hotels.

Meanwhile, Carolina Briones, Secretary General of the Central American Tourism Agency (CATA), explained that there is an important business opportunity between the countries that make up said agency through which a tourist exchange can be given that is win – win between all the tourist poles of the region.

“The countries that make up CATA have a complementary market that is ideal not only for North American and European tourists but also to attract tourists from the region, and we can create a model of success that allows us to grow together,” she said.

In addition, Oscar San Martín, general manager of the Punta Cana-Macao Consortium, spoke about sustainability and how technological transformation and innovation in energy sources will have a direct impact on the long-term success of the Dominican tourism sector.

Also, the Technical Vice Minister of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), Jaqueline Mora, explained about the prospect of recovery of the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic.

According to her, Mora has already projected a record recovery of tourists from the United States market, but it is still expected that the European and Canadian markets will be released in order to reach the desired levels of visitors.
