Asonahores recognizes the Tourism Cabinet for the record recovery of the sector
Santo Domingo. – The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES) gave recognition to the Tourism Cabinet in the persons of President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, for the record recovery that the sector has been presenting after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The recognition was delivered at the organization’s 60th anniversary celebration ceremony, where the past presidents of ASONAHORES were also recognized for their contributions to the tourism sector.
The president of ASONAHORES, Rafael Blanco Tejera, affirmed that tourism is being the fastest growing sector of the economy and that this recovery would not have been possible without the timely implementation of adequate health policies in the country arranged by the tourism cabinet and executed jointly between the public and private sectors.
Today we celebrate the 60th anniversary of our ASONAHORES and we do it at the best moment of the recovery of our sector, with a record in the arrival of tourists, an extraordinary hotel occupancy, with restoration of jobs and enthusiasm to work hand in hand with President Abinader , Minister Collado, and his entire team, in the implementation of the policies that have made it possible to position our country as the leading destination in the region in terms of tourism recovery,” said Blanco Tejera.
The activity was attended by most of the former presidents of ASONAHORES, who were introduced by the executive vice president of the association, Andrés Marranzini Grullón, and who were awarded a medal of merit in recognition of the work they did so that today tourism is the main sector of the national economy.
In these 60 years we have seen how tourism went from being a dream, to being the main sector and engine of our economy, and these past presidents that we recognize today are the living expression of entrepreneurship and tireless work to position our tourism industry as a leader in the region and the Dominican Republic as one of the main destinations in the world,” said Marranzini Grullón.
During the activity, both Blanco Tejera and Marranzini Grullón reviewed the main milestones they have achieved in Dominican tourism to place it in the seat it is today.
