Asonahores: “The results of Fitur will have a very good impact for the country”.

The National Association of Hotels and Tourism (Asonahores) assured that the success of the Dominican Republic at the recently concluded International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2023) in Madrid will be positively felt in the country’s economic results in the coming years.
This is due to the fact that there was a greater participation of the Dominican private sector in the history of the event, and a satisfactory level of business was reported from the exhibitors who were present at the DR stand.
The president of the entity, David Llibre, explained that at the fair not only were good agreements reached for the arrival of tourists in 2023, but also major investment projects were finalized that will increase the country’s hotel capacity.
“One of the objectives we set for ourselves at Asonahores is to contribute so that the country has more rooms and greater connectivity.
country to have more rooms and greater connectivity, and at this Fitur both points were achieved. Announcements of new projects were presented not only in a tourist pole, but more rooms were presented for Miches, Bávaro and Puerto Plata; and also the first hotel investment in Punta Bergantin was achieved, so we foresee that these results of Fitur 2023 will have a very good impact for our country,” he said.
The businessman also indicated that in 2022 around 1.4 million tourists were received from Europe, and the goal is to exceed this figure in 2023, for which reason agreements were signed with tour operators and airlines to promote the flow of passengers from the old continent to the Dominican Republic.
