Authorities supervise application of the sanitary protocol in tourist companies
The ministries of Tourism (Mitur) and Public Health began the inspection of hotel establishments and other tourism companies in the framework of compliance with the health protocol implemented by the authorities after the reopening of tourism on July 1.
The inspection, which formally began at the Hotel El Embajador, Royal Hideway Santo Domingo, was led by the director of companies and tourist services of the Mitur, Yarín Casquero and the director of the urban hotels Barceló Santo Domingo, Ventura Serra.
Casquero explained that the inspection with the health authorities has the objective of verifying compliance with the protocols that are already being applied in the sector, in order to guarantee the health of tourists and employees who work in the entities that provide their services. services.
He added that the supervision will include all the subsectors of this economic branch.
Likewise, all the hotel centers in Santo Domingo and those located in tourist centers at the international level will be verified, carried out by trained personnel to ensure compliance with health protocols aimed at reducing the risk of covid-19 infection.
Casquero added that the aforementioned reviews include all subsectors that provide services to domestic and foreign vacationers, including restaurants, gift shops, land tourist transport, travel agencies, tour operators, marine and theme parks, tourist ranches, among others. .
On his side, Ventura Serra listed some of the main prevention measures adopted in that establishment based on physical distancing, signaling and disinfection of rooms and common areas, implementing technology in this process to reinforce protection.
“We have aligned ourselves with the protocols issued by Mitur, we have also certified ourselves through Posi Check, the audit of Cristal International Standars and the implementation of the Group’s” We Care About You “program, which consists of a post-covid measures plan to reinforce the protection of its clients, employees and suppliers by means of safety, health and hygiene protocols in the reopening of its hotels ”, Serra explained.
Fabeth Martínez, director of the Santo Domingo Hotel Association, expressed her satisfaction with the supervision operation and guaranteed that the priority of the Government and the private sector is the health and well-being of tourists and employees.
