The Reserve Bank and the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster (CTSD) signed a collaboration agreement to support and strengthen initiatives that promote sustainable tourism investment and innovative entrepreneurship in this city.

The agreement contemplates, among other provisions, that Banreservas will evaluate the tourist ventures suggested by the CTSD, which require financial support for their operation.

Samuel Pereyra, general manager of Banreservas, said that this agreement commits the bank to provide “the necessary and sustained support to develop plans for tourism promotion, banking, financial inclusion, and support for the productive sectors with a social approach, promoting innovative entrepreneurship, through the integration of small and medium-sized enterprises for their development”.

Pereyra explained that the banking institution also agreed to offer Preserva financial education and culture workshops, aimed at the staff and clients of the companies that are part of the Cluster; establish a collaboration between the Tourism Cluster and Banreservas, through its Cultural Center; promote the Happy Holidays program and the benefits guide for cardholders, in support of domestic tourism and implement the Safe Tourism assistance plan.

Mónika Infante, general coordinator of the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster, stated: “This alliance will allow us to take advantage of the synergies between the plans, programs and projects of both entities in the lines of entrepreneurship, financial inclusion and culture; as well as initiate other actions that complement the Recovery Plan for the tourism sector of the Dominican Republic proposed by the State.“

Banreservas also supported the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster initiative, in partnership with the National District City Council (ADN), with the aim of transforming traditional cars into electric cars.

The financial institution assumed the commissioning of two cars: one corresponding to the Banco de Reservas and the other to the Banreservas Cultural Center. Both vehicles will offer transportation services to the historic sites of the Colonial City, with optimal standards for the preservation of the environment, while guaranteeing the jobs of the coachmen and modernizing the route of the monuments and museums of the Colonial City.

The agreement, signed by Pereyra and Infante, also establishes the commitment of both institutions to jointly promote the development of plans, programs and projects, of a social and commercial nature, with the aim of contributing to the improvement of Dominicans.

They also agreed to promote social inclusion, local development in the city of Santo Domingo, and create projects aimed at developing initiatives for the recovery of tourism from their respective fields of action and business.

The signing of the agreement took place at the headquarters of the Banreservas Cultural Center, located on Isabel La Católica street, with the presence of executives from the financial institution and representatives of the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster, among other areas linked to the sector.
