Commitment Santiago congratulates the reconstruction of the Puerto Plata wharf

The business and development associations that make up Commitment Santiago expressed their satisfaction for the start of the reconstruction of the cruise and passenger terminal in Puerto Plata, headed by President Danilo Medina, which also includes the construction of a special dock for fishermen as well as dredging and other collateral works. «We welcome the conversion of the Puerto Plata wharf into a multipurpose port, which will contribute to the development of trade and the strengthening of this important tourist pole, which has experienced a great resurgence and revitalization.»

Commitment Santiago considers that the improvement of port facilities in Puerto Plata, together with the expansion and modernization of the Port of Manzanillo that it expects will also begin in a short time, which could be done through a public-private partnership, will endow the northern region with the port and logistical facilities necessary to take better advantage of their productive potential and promote a more balanced development of the territory. «Both ports will complement each other becoming engines of development that will impact the northern region and the entire national territory, generating jobs and wealth.»

Commitment Santiago is composed of the Association for Development, Inc. (APEDI), the Council for Strategic Development of Santiago (CDES), Corporación Zona Franca Santiago (CZFS), Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santiago (CCPS), Asociación de Desarrollo Estratégico de Santiago (CCES), Industriales de la Región Norte (AIREN), Association of Free Trade Zone Companies of Santiago (AEZFS) and the Association of Merchants and Industrialists ACIS.
