Optimistic outlook for tourism in the Dominican Republic reiterated
Santo Domingo, D.N. – A delegation of executives from the Association of Spanish Investors in Caribbean Tourism (Inverotel) held an institutional meeting with executives from Banco Popular Dominicano, in which they revalidated the optimistic outlook for tourism in the Dominican Republic, as a recipient country of important Spanish investments in the local hotel sector.
Mrs. Encarna Piñero, president of Inverotel and CEO of Grupo Piñero (Bahía Príncipe Hotels & Resorts), led the meeting, in which Mr. Ramón Roselló, executive director of Inverotel in the Dominican Republic; Paqui Benitez, director of Institutional Relations and Protocol of Grupo Piñero; Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, CEO and Vice Chairman of Meliá Hotels International; Carmen Riu, CEO of Riu Hotels; Abel Matutes, president of Grupo Fiesta and Carles Poy, CEO of Grupo Princess.
Banco Popular’s representation was headed by its executive president, Mr. Christopher Paniagua, and Mr. René Grullón Finet, senior executive vice president of National and International Business; Antonia Antón de Hernández, Senior Executive Vice President of Human Management, Cultural Transformation, Credit Administration and Compliance; Luis Espínola, Executive Vice President of Business and Investment Business; and Juan Manuel Martín de Oliva, vice president of the Tourism Business Area.
Mr. Paniagua, in his words, thanked the members of Inverotel for the vote of confidence granted to the Dominican Republic and its fundamental impact on the socio-economic development of the nation, thanks to the investments they make to the country.
“As I expressed to the top executives of these Spanish hotel groups, at Popular they have a strategic financial ally to develop their expansion plans. We lead the financing of the tourism sector and for this reason we are the tourism bank ”, the executive stressed.
