Dominican Republic continues to promote the recovery of tourism

During March, more than 400,000 foreign tourists have already entered. The main source market is the United States with 50.83% of the total number of visitors.

The Dominican Republic registers from March 01 to 21, 2022, the entry of 406 thousand non-resident passengers with a foreign passport according to information collected by Infotur Dominicano based on data provided by the technical vice ministry of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) , which means that in the last week 140,171 passengers have arrived through the country’s airports.

In that sense, until the 21st of this month, a total of 406,627 non-resident passengers with a foreign passport have arrived in the Dominican Republic. Of these, 259,025 have entered through the Punta Cana International Airport, while 85,031 have entered the national territory through the Las Américas / José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport (AILA—JFPG); while 31,873 have arrived through the Cibao International Airport; 22,951 for the Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata; 3,976 have entered through the International Airport of La Romana, while through El Catey 2,051 and through La Isabela 1,889 non-resident passengers with foreign passports have arrived.

The main issuing market for this month with 206,670, that is, 50.83% of non-resident passengers with a foreign passport who have arrived in the country between March 1 and 21, come from the US. 57,530 (14.15%) have arrived from Canada. ; while 18,627 (4.58%) have arrived from France; Until now, Germany is the fourth issuing market this month with 15,404 (3.90%) and the top 5 is closed by Spain with 11,072 (2.72%). It is good to indicate that for this update date the Dominican Republic has received 1,090 tourists with Russian passports and 631 with Ukrainian passports.

From Latin America, the Colombian market leads with the arrival of 10,786 (2.65%); 9,291 (2.28%) from Argentina; while from Chile, 4,821 (1.19%) have arrived; 3,811 (0.94%) from Peru and 3,428 (0.84%) from Venezuela

The monthly variation, until the 21st of this month, is (+2.67%) compared to March 2021. To date, the country has received 1,441,263 non-resident passengers with a foreign passport, for an interannual variation of +184.53% with respect to to 2021.
